The Mount Olivet Chapel was donated in 1912 by Lucy Forney Bittinger so that anyone could hold memorial and burial services within the chapel instead of at the gravesite. Today, anyone can rent the Chapel for these or other respectful purposes.
Lucy Bittinger and her parents Rev. Dr. Joseph Baugher Bittinger and his wife Catherine (Nace) Forney are buried near the Chapel. Rev. Dr. Bittinger was a Presbyerian minister and educator, and was interested in humanitarian and reform movements. Their giving legacy is carried on by the beauty of the Chapel.
